The town of Doboj is at 150 km in the north of Sarajevo. According to the agreements of Dayton (November 1995), the territory of the town is divided between two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic Srpska. Consequently three new towns were set up: Doboj, in the Republic Srpska, and Doboj-Est and Doboj-Sud in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the town of Doboj-Est, in the year 1999 the refugee camp "Duje" was constructed to lodge provisionally the refugees who came back to Bosnia Hercegovina from abroad and that could not retrieve their houses because they were busy by other families or they were destroyed. The refugee camp of "Duje" was constructed by the humanitarian organization "EMMAÜS INTERNATIONAL" of France, whith office in Tuzla, which continues taking care of the stay of the refugees in the camp.

The refugee camp has electrical connection, communication by road but the problem of the supply of water is not solved. Drums of potable water have to be transported there every day.

The system of aqueduct of Klokotnica is finished until the second level of water distribution, that is, until the deposit "Frkati". The existing well for the supply of the system of aqueduct of Klokotnica works 8 hours every day. This means the well has enough amounts of water for the supply of the refugee camp.

The technical solution for the supply of the refugee camp would be to construct a pumping station beside the deposit "Frkati", to bring the water until a new deposit "Duje" (V=100 m³) on a higher height and to install pumps in the new deposit "Duje" to bring the water to the refugee camp.

The company of water supply of Bosnia and Herzegovina funded the main technical project with the same technical solution, but neither the town of Doboj-Est nor the humanitarian organization "EMMAÜS" found the financial means for the construction of the hidrotechnical facilities. The supply of water of the refugee camp of Duje, the construction of a pumping station "Frkati" and of a deposit "Duje" they would make equally possible the supply of the villages of Subasii, Sofići and Kapetanovići that belong to the town of Doboj East and that do not have potable water.

The sanitary situation in the refugee camp is very dangerous mainly for lack of potable water. For this reason, the supply of water is a severe and urgent problem.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

The System of Aqueduct for the refugee camp of Duje will consist technically in:

• a pumping station of two pumps beside the existing deposit "Frkati".
• an aqueduct "Frkati" - "Duje", with pipes of PEHD of diameter 160 mm, 12,5 bars, L = 1540 m.
• a deposit "Duje", volume V=100 m³, with two pumps
• an aqueduct "Duje" - refugee camp, with pipes of PEHD of diameter 50 mm, 6 bars, L = 550 m.

The pumping station "Frkati" is on side of the deposit "Frkati". It consists of a pit of concrete armed with dimensions 1,7 x 2,2 m, where both pumps will be put with capacity of q = 7,4 l/s and capacity of elevation of 90 m. The pumping station will use electrical energy and will be supplied with the necessary mechanisms of automation.

The deposit "Duje" is a construction of usual concrete armed. It consists of a chamber of water with volume V = 100 m³ and a dam. In this dam the fences and the facilities necessary for the arrival and the exit of the water and two pumps are found to bring the water until the field of refugee of Duje to a higher height. The pumps have a capacity of q = 1,0 l/s and a capacity of elevation of 40 m.

The aqueduct between the pumping station "Frkati" and the deposit "Duje" will be constructed with pipes PEHD of diameter 160 mm, class 12,5 bars. It will have a length of 1.540 m.

The aqueduct between the deposit "Duje" and the refugee camp will be constructed with pipes PEHD of diameter 50 mm, class 6 bars. It will have a length of 550 m.

A cable of signaling will be installed beside both aqueducts. The pipes with cable of signaling will be assembled on a layer of sand in the canalization dug of a width b = 0,80 m.
