Foundation

The international humanitarian organization ESPERO was created on January 1993 in Sarajevo, during the very cruel aggression Bosnia, on initiative of members of the Esperantist League of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ELBiH), as the section of humanitarian help of the League. During the war it had about 500 associates who had the protection and fifty of them shared more actively in the realization of the current projects of the association. According to the new Law of Humanitarian Associations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ESPERO was registered on March,24 1997 as an independent and non yielding humanitarian organization.

In May 1998 at the Catalan city Sabadell an autonomous NGO was set up with the same goals and denomination and both entities federated through a contract.
