Sarajevo-Sabadell, 2006
The town of Doboj is at 150 km in the north of Sarajevo. According to the agreements of Dayton (November 1995), the territory of the town is divided into two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Serbian Republic. Consequently three new towns were set up in it: Doboj, in the Serbian Republic, and Doboj East i Doboj South in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The village of Suho Polje belongs to the town of Doboj, in the Serbian Republic. The inhabitants are Serbian and Bosnians (aprox. 900 Bosnians and 600 Serbian). The Bosnian inhabitants were expelled during the war and now 60 % they have come back at their home.
The village of Suho Polje is at 10 km of Doboj, in the left shore of the river Sprea, near the village of Klokotnica. Suho Polje had 1.500 inhabitants before the war. The village was found between the two lines of front and many houses and infrastructures were destroyed.
Before the aggression in Bosnia, the village had a deficient supply of water from a small fountain that only allowed an irregular supply. But during the war, the net of aqueduct was totally destroyed and the current authorities of the town are interested in solving this problem. For this reason, the town of Doboj funded an exploratory research near the river Sprea, where they found, in 70 meters of depth, an amount of 5 l/s of potable water. But, to follow with the works, the town does not have financial means.
For solving the supply of water for the inhabitants of Suho Polje with success the project has been made technical. Thanks to the intervention of the Serbian Republic (25.000 euros of its budget for 2005) a water tank has been able to be constructed about the well and to buy two pumps. At present funding is being searched for the other necessary infrastructures to carry out the project (electrical supply, works of insulation, of freemasonry, pipes, etc).
The construction of the system of aqueduct would speed the return of refugees in the village in a very important way and would improve the living conditions of all inhabitants. It treats itself, moreover, of a project that interests in the communal life of two nations, Serbians and Bosnians, and for this value of model and of return to the normality, the government of the Federation as well as the government of the Serbian Republic are very interested in throwing it ahead.
The aqueduct for the village of Suho Polje consists of a well with a station of pumping, a pipe of water at pressure, a deposit and a net of water supply.
The well is already pierced and inspected and it is, in Tuzla-Doboj, near the destroyed railway line in the village of Suho Polje, at some 150 m over the level of the sea. The capacity of the well is of 5 l/s and the water is extracted at some 70 m of depth, under the river Sprea.
About the well, where there is the disposable flow, it is necessary to construct a chamber of water and a dam for the fences, the pump with capacity q = 5 l/s, the elevation of the water, that it is of H=70 m and the electrical facilities. For the electrical supply, it is necessary to install there an electrical cable (380 V) of 300 m of length.
From the well until the main deposit, the pipe of water has to be installed at pressure of PEHD and of diameter 110 mm, class 10 bars. The pipe will have a length of 820 m. A cable of signaling will be installed near the pipes. The pipes with the cable of signaling will be put on a layer of sand in the canalization dug of a width of 1 m.
The volume of the main deposit it has to be :
V = 2.000 x 0,120 x 50% + 2 x 3.600 x 0,01 = 120 + 72 = 192 m.
It is the deposit at 200 m over the level of the sea and consists of a dam and two chambers of water. The deposit is a construction of concrete made normal manufactured with hydraulic concrete with the necessary insulationons against the water and the fences in the dam.
For supplying water for the houses above 200 m about the level of the sea, we need V = a station of pumping Buster and a water tank of a volume 100 m.
The net of aqueduct of the deposit until the houses of the inhabitants of the village has to guarantee the extinction of fires with a capacity of q=10 l/s, and the diameter of the pipe has to be from 100 mm. The pipes are from class 6 bars, of PEHD and of 7.000 m of length. The pipes will be put on a layer of sand in the canalization dug of a width of 0,80 m.
